Probationary
Membership
Members
new to shooting sports will be required to serve a probationary
period of at least six months, during which time they will be
allowed to attend the Failand Ranges and shoot under supervision.
They will also receive training in firearms safety and range discipline
as directed by the Club Training Officer. At each visit to the
range probationary members will need to get their record of attendance
signed by a Committee Member, a fee of £2 per visit is payable.
Probationary
members will get the monthly newsletter, the “Bristol Bullet-IN”,
either by post or e-mail, they will be able to attend the Annual
General Meeting (AGM) but have no voting rights.
New
members who have shooting experience and hold a current firearms
certificate (FAC) are required to complete a shorter probationary
period but are still required to satisfy the Committee of their
knowledge and competence in firearms safety and good range discipline.
They have the same rights as other probationary members.
The
purpose of the probationary period is to allow new members to
demonstrate their commitment to shooting sports, to get to know
the club and its members and to ensure that they wish to pursue
full membership. It also gives the Committee a chance to get to
know its new members.
